ServiceLink Project
Greg
- goal to get original servicelink technology and SRs and possibly some TW combinations together into a clinic in a sustainable way
- the original project demonstrated some of the function in a headstart program
- for the ServiceLink 2 project, we hope to put a sustainable installation in a physical therapy clinic in the Bay Area
- including the ability to provide educational materials to the patients in that clinic as well as assist the clinic with record keeping for visitations
- 1st instance of SRs being tightly integrated with a practice management system
- this week, the Community Network Services group at Ricoh have a meeting of the core developers
- Dimagi & a local contractor
- integration being done this week and being deployed in early Feb
- if anyone else has ideas or wants to participate in the testing of this project, please contact Doug or Jon at Dimagi as they’re the technical leads on this project
MORE
Greg
- spoke with Priya last Friday as part of a visit to Ricoh by the CIOs for clinics in the Bay Area that she helped to set up
- one of them works closely with migrant workers who have a difficult time getting health insurance
- they are very interested in the SRs/ServiceLink/TW technologies to make better information available at that level
- spoke at length with Priya about the MORE project and the current status with Yousuf
- we decided that the development of this project needs to take a back seat for now to really understanding the deployment needs of Yousuf’s project with the Open University in Bangladesh and also the Digital Study Hall needs
- the prototype database has been completed
- will focus for now on understanding what the above mentioned needs are and getting a workshop together with those people in order to figure out what additional development work is necessary to support them
- Priya is available to continue working when the projects have clear milestones and the developments needed are more clearly defined
- Saq will take the lead in collecting that information
World Bank
Jon (in written message)
- just finalized contract with the World Bank
- in process of finalizing sub contract with Brac
- as soon as that’s done, will set up the contract with Yousuf and begin the technical work
(Greg)
- that should take place at about the same time as Saq will be talking with Yousuf
- we’ll be able to figure out between the two project, what components can be shared and what we can help with and what is missing in terms of supporting the MORE project or how MORE can support the Open University project regarding English language learning
HTML to Wikispaces Conversion
Martin
- found a perl library for HTML to wiki conversion that has a plug in framework but no plug ins for wikispaces or TW
- I wrote a wikispaces plug in for it, which is working
- Saq sent one of the Hesperian chapters in html format which I ran through the converter and put it up on the wiki
- a few minor issues regarding tables & images
- I’ve emailed the author of the original framework to request this plug in be made available to everyone
(Saq)
- I sent the converted document to Adam at wikispaces and asked him to run the original html document through any tools they might already have so we can compare the output of the two and choose which is more suitable
- I’ll be working on the UI mockups over the weekend and hope to send the first versions around to everyone early next week
- the wikispaces UI will remain essentially the same so I’ll focus more on the TW UI as that’s more of a concern of the wikispaces team
- goal is to come up with a UI that will be easy to use for both existing TW users and wikispaces users
UM Website Redesign
Saq
- osmosoft will help with the redesign
- goal is to clean up the interface and have it better represent the organization
- all visitors to the site should have an instant idea regarding what UM is about what we’re doing
- currently have two mock ups
- by the end of the week, I’ll combine the two and add the content from our existing site and send it to everyone
- please give feedback
- goal is to clean up the interface and have it better represent the organization
MORE Project Workshop
Saq
- I’m in the process of setting up conversations with Priya, Urvashi and Grandi (?) at Digital Study Hall
- also setting up conversations with Yousuf and Dimagi regarding the World Bank project
- hope to have this done by next week
- goal is to come to an understanding of the basic needs, where the projects are now and try to find the common denominator on the technical side that might be a service that we can provide to them
- that will set groundwork for MORE project and hopefully get all the key people together for discussions/workshop so we can figure out the best way to proceed
