WikiSpaces Proposal
Saq
http://mixins.project.unamesa.org
- all the desired features have been outlined, as well as the API requirements on Wikispaces
- example use space was Where There Is No Doctor by Hesperian
- this has been revised to a use space which already has an html format – http://mixins.projects.unamesa.org/Disabled+Village+Children
- Hesperian publishes books for the public good
- they allow anyone to use their books to create derivative books
- i.e. localized language versions or other formats that are appropriate for specific communities
- they are interested in publishing their books digitally
- this has been revised to a use space which already has an html format – http://mixins.projects.unamesa.org/Disabled+Village+Children
- example use space was Where There Is No Doctor by Hesperian
- there will be a conference call with Adam from Wikispaces today immediately following this call
- we will discuss the proposal from a business perspective as well as the the actual features and requirements

MORE
Greg

- she has been in contact with Yousuf
- she won’t be able to go to Bangledesh
MORE
- will be supporting an existing project by the Open University of Bangladesh
- English language pilot learning project – 26 lessons over 13 weeks
SharedRecords Back Up
Backing up TW files to SharedRecords
Eric
- the syntiddler plugin will submit a form to a server
- advantage is that this form is browser based
- using this form, a passcode can be generated to submit to SRs
- challenge currently is making server side accept a ‘post’ instead of ‘put’
- once server will accept a ‘post’, this will be a working mechanism
- then will need to encapsulate this process into a single button click
- Cory will add the post mechanism
Tasks Page For All UM Associates
http://tasks.projects.unamesa.org/
Greg
Each UM associate, including Dimagi, has a task page. Starting now, please keep track of the goals regarding the projects you’re working on as well as the actual achievements. This doesn’t have to be detailed. What would be best is to point to the actual work if it has been posted elsewhere online. It is suggested that updating be done either directly before or after the Wednesday conference calls.
You can organize your task space as you see fit.
Reasons for posting task updates:
- to give us some discipline and the ability to coordinate activities
- it’s necessary for us to have a history of what we’ve accomplished so that contributors and those who show an interest in Um can see what progress has been made
- this is part of being as transparent as possible
Marianne
Everyone has been sent an invitation to join the site. It’s necessary to become a member in order to edit your page. If you need to have another invitation sent, please let me know.
Those who are already members:
- Andreas
- Cory
- Eric
- Priya
- Martin
Goals for 2008
http://tasks.projects.unamesa.org/2008+Goals
Greg
Goals
- to recognize that, since started UM in 2006, time has been spent building the infrastructure
- very happy with where we are now
- we have a good team working across a wide range of projects and engaging with several partners
- focus for 2008
- applications – MORE and ServiceLink
- demonstrate practical usage to improve services
- whether or not projects are successful, document all steps along the way
- all UM associates
- please be focused on the key differences you want to make in other people’s lives in terms of their experiences
- make sure that how time is being spent is reflective of these goals
- applications – MORE and ServiceLink
ServiceLink
Jon
- currently in the implementation phase
- finalizing several new pieces of technology which will be part of the SRs package
- implemented the WebDave interface for one piece
- none of the open source tools that implement WebDav with Java focused on the storage mechanism, so we can’t get that off an existing project
- the http interface for WebDav is trivial, so it was faster to write our own
- the barcode server that Andy is working on is almost complete
- this will be good for the SRs community
- will allow generation or reading of an arbitrary key bar code by submitting a post method against a given URL
- this will allow anyone to submit a generic pdf doc and pull the bytes back out of a key bar code
- in the ServiceLink project this is being used to uniquely identify documents as a particular type of visit belonging to a particular patient
- I’m on the Board of a medical company in Japan
- a gap in the medical records system they are in the process of designing is exactly what we’re designing for ServiceLink
- we’ll be in CA around Jan 22nd for a couple weeks
Greg
- we’ll have an UM lunch during that time for anyone who is in the area
Action Items
Cory
- add ‘post’ mechanism to extend API to support posts for uploading TW files to SRs
Andreas
- deploy the post mechanism on the test server
Eric
- test the above
Martin
- add functionality Saq has requested
All
- review http://tasks.projects.unamesa.org/2008+Goals
- give feedback by either editing page directly or using the discussion page
Discussion of 2008 goals and how they relate to each project
Discussion regarding Osmosoft assigning copyrights of client and server codes of one of their projects to UM
